Dr. OZ Spreading the Green Drink/Smoothie Love

So as I stood in the check out at the  grocery store today I saw this magazine, First for Women staring back at me.

Okay I thought, I'll bite ....
So what IS Dr. Oz's #1 Fat Cure?

What a surprise!
Green Juice and Green Smoothies!

Alright Dr. OZ!

I know he drinks green drinks himself and has had them on his show and even convinced  Oprah to try them, but I was so thrilled to see this information go main stream!
So much so that I bought the magazine. ( I want the publishers to know that this is the information that sells so to keep it coming!)

The article gives a really good overview with easy recipes  for both green smoothies or green juicing complete with tips for juicers and blending.

There are success stories of women who have not only lost considerable weight but also describe feeling amazing right away. The article mentions other notable health changes they experienced as well.
There was a wonderful shout out to Victoria Boutenko and  her book,
as it should be seeing how she is the one who came up with green smoothies.

Dr. Robert Young and The Ph Miracle was covered and then a couple of authors that frankly would not have been my first choice picks for this article. There have been so many other better books since the ones they chose to mention but I believe they were in previous articles by this magazine.
They mention a few good combos for both smoothies and juices and then another page of tips for slimming things up with a traditional diet. Got to go easy on the readers I guess.

Now this is not news to many who are already on a raw path by any means but it really did give me a thrill to read this article singing the praises of raw greens in a "regular" magazine. Hopefully more will learn the power of greens and the ease of green drinks and smoothies and help heal their lives.

Could times really be a changin' ?
Gosh I hope so!

Keep Spreading the Love Dr. OZ!

PS: I heard from a great source that Dr. OZ is 75% raw and has a raw food chef prepare foods and stock his kitchen twice a week for him and his wife. How cool is that!

Hi Jodi,
Raw is definitely the the choice for health and vitality. I'm sure that 75% raw in an achievable goal in a world of so many not so raw choices. Certainly, I would be happy with that kind of percentage.
One of my favorite green drinks is fresh spinach blended with frozen mango chunks, agave syrup, and water. Very easy and tasty.
Another involves much more labor but, is worth the effort. Parsley, cilantro, cucumber, jalapeno, and celery. Add some apple and lemon and there you go. Great energy drink.
Anyway, hope all is well, and Merry Christmas!

Thanks Jason. I'm going to have to try your recipe with the jalapeno! Sounds spicy! Merry Christmas back to you!

We can only hope the word is getting out there. Oprah needs to do a 30-day Raw food challange and see how good she feels and looks.

Green smoothies started a whole new lifestyle for me. It lead me to look at food as fuel, lost my fear of the scale and my new interest in health and wellness.
Jodi I love your blog!

Thank you Queen of Kale ;-)
I know my life has changed dramatically from green smoothies as well. Food is so much more important to our health and well being than I ever could imagine. Until you try it and start noticing the changes for yourself, it's hard to understand.

Is it expensive to maintain?

Hi Sarah! You mean are drinking smoothies or green juices expensive? There is a lot of press about raw food or juicing being expensive but really it is all relative. Many eat much less expensively than before but also you can make it expensive with superfoods and exotic ingredients. Also their is the argument that your health is really worth so much! Without knowing what you usually spend for food, I can tell you that for me it is much cheaper to drink smoothies and eat simple raw food than what I did before. I find that smoothies where you blend and drink everything uses much less produce than juicing where you are extracting and consuming only the juice. It all depends on how much cleansing you want to do. Hope that helps!
